Symptom:
When trying to create the EFT for A/P file, user receives an error message saying “Your emails may be processing too quickly to the SMTP Server.”
Cause:
Email notifications for EFT payment are sent to vendors automatically when creating the EFT for A/P file. Beginning with version 2017.1, Email Notifications to vendors are submitted through the SMTP email server. Before, they used a local MAPI email client. Certain settings will have to be changed in order for Email Notifications to go out and for the EFT for A/P file to be created.
Resolution:
Configure SMTP - When receiving the error message above, there is a subsequent error listed as well. In the instance where SMTP email has not been configured, the user receives this error when trying to create the EFT for A/P file:
With this error message, the users will have to configure the SMTP Server in the Organization > Organization Information screen under the SMTP Email tab (
See KB Article # 15481. ) After the SMTP Server is configured, users will have to log out and log back in before SMTP functions will work properly.
If the SMTP Server is set up, the error message received may include a subsequent error saying the email address is empty, as seen here:
In this example, the organization will have to access the Security > Maintain Users screen and assign an email address to the user receiving the error, the field being highlighted here:
