Note:  This change takes effect September 16, 2017 and is a departure from the prior login procedure.

If you are a MAC user and wish to access the hosted version of your product, you will need to see article 9761.  All other users follow the information below.

To view the video on how to perform the steps outlined below, please clickhere.

To utilize the web browser method:

Navigate to: https://www.abilaonline.com

Enter your username and password:

Security Options:

When logging into abilaonline.com, you can select one of two options. Each option will disconnect you after the specified number of minutes of being idle. For more information on each option, please click the show explanation link. If you do not select the Private option, you will be defaulted to the Public or shared computer’ option at login.

  • Public or shared computer (20-minute timeout)

  • Select this option if you use Abila Nonprofit Online on a public computer, like a hotel or library. Your session will time out after 20 minutes of inactivity. Be sure to log off when you have finished using Abila Nonprofit Online and close all windows to end your session.

  • Private computer (4-hour timeout)

  • Select this option if you are the only person who uses this computer, like at home or work. Your session will time out after 4 hours of inactivity.

After Login:

In some cases, a second Windows Security login screen may appear, if that is the case, enter sagehost\your login id and then your password.   This should only have to be performed once and then going forward you should see only the standard login screen above.

In addition, you have the ability to manage/reset your password 24/7:

  1. You may use the Abila Nonprofit Online Password Manager to reset your password as well as unlock your account. To do this, you can go to the ‘Forgot Password?’ link at the bottom of abilaonline.com or go to passwordmanager.abilaonline.com. You do not have to enter your username and password above to click the links below.

  2. Click Reset Password and you will need to enter your username. This is the username you use to log into abilaonline.com normally.

  3. From there, when you click Continue, you can have an email sent to you with a reset password link. Please verify this email is correct, if it is not, please contact Support through chat or by calling 800-945-3278.

  4. If the email is correct, please enter the characters you see in the picture and click Continue.

  5. It should then send you an email with a link to reset the password.

Note: If you have trouble resetting your password, you will need to contact Support through chat or by calling 800-945-3278.

Abila Private Cloud Getting Disconnected or Timing Out

$
0
0
Symptom:

My connection to the Abila Private Cloud gets disconnected or dropped either randomly or after a short period of time. This disconnection is not associated with a specific action in the software.

Cause:

Connectivity issues with your workstation or local network environment. The Abila private cloud has a timeout feature choice of 20 minutes or 4 hours. If your connection is idle (not doing anything) for the amount of time you chose when logging into abilaonline.com the system will log you off automatically. That is the only Abila controlled mechanism that will cause your connection to the Private Cloud to be dropped. You can review the login timeout options that Abila controls by going to article 2796.

If you are getting dropped either sooner than expected based on the option you chose on the abilaonline.com login screen or at random times, it is going to be an issue with your local environment. This could mean it is your workstation, your network, your internet or the settings that control network access.

Resolution:

Contact your IT support and have them troubleshoot this issue. Things to pay particular attention to are:

The priority and routing of Remote Desktop Protocol connections -We have seen instances where customers had extensive bandwidth but RDP connections (which is what Abila uses) were all being routed through a secondary device and were very restricted. This is not something that Abila support is able to troubleshoot or identify.

Screen savers or power savers - Some of these will interrupt dormant connections either directly or by powering down network cards or hard drives.

Wireless connections– Wireless connections can be unstable and are not supported. Try plugging the device into a network and see if the problem persists.

Group Policy Network Settings– To conserve bandwidth some networks are set up to terminate idle connections sooner than one hour. You can review some group policy settings that can cause this by going to article 20031.

Firewall/Security Settings– Firewall/Antivirus software can be set to terminate idle connections.

Recent Windows updates or software conflicts– There is a loose association with the application of additional security updates from Microsoft and the occurrence of calls that support gets on this topic. Though multiple machines may have received the update the problem usually only occurs on a limited number of machines. This points at something different in its settings.

Network Problems– Try updating or reinstalling the network card drivers on the machine. Try moving the machine to a different network plug or take a working machine and move it to the plug the problematic machine is on. Consider swapping cables.

Weak or problematic internet connections– Any disruption in the internet service can cause this. Your IT may check all these things and more but still not find a cause. Unfortunately, there isn’t any additional troubleshooting in your local network or internet connection that Abila support can do. Abila’s troubleshooting in this area is limited to confirming that the Abila server is not disconnecting you. This is accomplished by having an analyst log in observe what happens to your connection on the hosted system when it drops. This means that we will need to be online with you when it drops. If the drop happens at random this can be very difficult to accomplish. If we see that the disconnect happens on the Abila server, we can investigate its cause. But if the disconnect happens locally your login will remain on the Abila server and we will have to refer you back to your IT for troubleshooting the issue. Most customers that have reported this issue have subsequently had the issue resolved by their local IT resources. A number of them have reported that the problem simply “went away” which indicates they were probably temporary internet connectivity problems. Customers who IT was not able to determine the source of the issue usually resolve this by swapping machines or formatting and reinstalling their operating system.

Abilaonline.com Hosting Environment Disconnects Me Unexpectedly

$
0
0
Symptom:

The abilaonline.com hosting logs me out unexpectedly.

Cause:

Either you have selected the Public option when you logged into abilaonline.com which logs you out after 20 minutes or you have Group Policy settings that are disconnecting the Remote Desktop (RDP) session on your network earlier than our default settings. If you are kicked out after 4 hours of being idle, you have chosen the Private option in the login screen of abilaonline.com and it is our settings on our servers to save system resources.

Resolution:

Scenario 1:

When logging into abilaonline.com, you can select one of two options. Each option will disconnect you after a certain number of minutes of being idle. For more information on each option, please click the show explanation link. If you do not select the Private option, you will be defaulted to the Public at login.

1. Public or shared computer (20-minute timeout)

Select this option if you use Abila Nonprofit Online on a public computer, like a hotel or library. Your session will time out after 20 minutes of inactivity. Be sure to log off when you have finished using Abila Nonprofit Online and close all windows to end your session.

2. Private computer (4-hour timeout)

Select this option if you are the only person who uses this computer, like at home or work. Your session will time out after 4 hours of inactivity.

Scenario 2:
Note: Configuring Group Policies is outside the scope of you Abila M&S agreement. The following solution has been provided as a courtesy to our Fund Accounting customers. Please contact you Abila Business Partner or your local IT consultant for assistance in maintaining or troubleshooting your Group Policy settings or you can just review the settings by following these steps:

  1. Go to Start and type MMC.exe and press Enter on your keyboard.

  2. Go to File>Add/Remove Snap-in...

  3. Select Group Policy Object on the left and click Add>

  4. A 'Select Group Policy Object" screen will come up, just click Finish

  5. Click OK

  6. Expand Local Computer Policy>Computer Configuration>Administration Templates>Windows Components>Remote Desktop Services>Remote Desktop Session> and click Session Time Limits

  7. In here, on the right, if any of these have a State of anything other than Not configured, they would be the cause.

  8. If IT changes these setting to Not configured, you should no longer be kicked out unless you are idle for 20 minutes or 4 hours depending on your selection when logging in.
