How to Stop and then Start the MIP or FR50 SQL Server Service (instance)
Answer:
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:
We are providing the information in this article as a courtesy to our Abila customers. Assistance with troubleshooting SQL falls outside of the scope of your Abila Maintenance and Support Agreement. We recommend first contacting your IT before attempting the steps below.
Stopping and starting the SQL Server Service can be a beneficial troubleshooting step if you are having slowness issues in MIP or if you cannot get exclusive use of the software when trying to close a fiscal year, compress a database, or run Data Integrity Checks.
Before stopping and starting the SQL Server service, please ensure that there is absolutely nobody running any application that is connected to SQL. This would apply to any application, not just Abila products. If you are unsure, please consult your IT department or constultant.
Once you are certain that no applications are running, below are three ways to stop and start the service on your Abila product server:
Option A:
Navigate to Start
Select All Programs
Select your version of Microsoft SQL Server
Select Configuration Tools
Select SQL Server Configuration Manager

In SQL Server Services, right-click SQL Server (yourservername), and select Stop

Once the service has stopped, right-click SQL Server (yourservername) again, and select Start
Option B:
Navigate to Start
Type “services.msc” into the search bar and press Enter on your keyboard

Locate SQL Server (yourabilaproductsqlserverinstancename)

Right-Click, select Stop
Once the service displays Stopped, Right-Click select Start
Option C:
At the server, navigate to: Start>All Programs>SQL Server 2xxxx> SQL Management Studio
When the Connect to Server window appears, select and connect to the correct Server\SQL Instance Name.
In the Object Explorer, right-click the name of your Server\SQL instance and select Stop

Once the service has stopped, right-click the name of your Server\SQL instance again, and select Start

How do I edit a Payroll Only Distribution Code?
Answer:
With the release of version 2015.2, all MIP modules (Admin, Payroll, Accounting) were consolidated. This changed the product menu structure.
You would create any type (Accounting, Payroll or Both) distribution code by navigating to Maintain > Distribution Codes.
![]()
But to edit a Payroll only distribution code you would not follow the same menu structure, as the code would be grayed out.
![]()
To edit a Payroll Only distribution code, you navigate to:L Maintain > Payroll > Distribution Codes:
![]()
Here the Payroll Only distribution codes are available to edit:
![]()
Additional Information:
Any Distribution code designated as Accounting Only or Both, would be edited via the original path: Maintain>Distribution Codes

How to Designate and then Locate Favorite Reports
Answer:
Many users have reports that they utilize on a regular basis, be it daily, weekly or monthly. Rather than navigate through the toolbar to find these reports, you can add them to your Process Manager to access a particular report directly.
To use this function, from the toolbar navigate to View and confirm that there is a checkmark next to Navigator and Process Manager:
![]()
Once these options have been confirmed, expand the Accounting banner and select Report Manager:
![]()
Select a Report Category, for instance if you commonly go to a specific Statement of Revenues & Expenditures, select Financial Statements:
![]()
When Financial Statements is selected, from the Process Manager on the right hand side of your window, select the Reports tab:
![]()
For the report you wish to add to your Favorites, you will expand Statement of Revenues and Expenditures, find the report, right-click and select Add to Favorites:
![]()
Now Select the Favorites tab and note in the Favorites folder is the Statement of Revenues and Expenditures: Board RE:
![]()
You can either double-click on the report to run it without editing or if you right click you will see the additional options:
![]()
Edit will take you to the report setup page where you can change dates, content, add a filter or further customize the existing report
Run will load the report
Rename will allow you to change the name of the report
Remove from Favorites will take this report out of your Favorites folder

Error: -30 Printing Reports on a W10 computer
Symptom:
A report was printed to PDF, now when I try to print anything I receive: Error -30 and nothing prints.
Cause:
If you navigate to Devices and Scanners within the W10 settings, you will see that the default printer selection has changed from your default printer name to Abila MIP Internal Driver.
Changing the default back to your standard default printer and then attempting to print, merely resets the default back to the Abila MIP Internal Driver.
Resolution:
You can correct this by turning off the option: ‘Let Windows manage my default printer’

This will prevent the default printer from resetting once you have made your selection.

Is the email notice about my Private Cloud password expiring, legitimate?
Answer:
Yes, this is a new feature we are rolling out to our Private Cloud users as of August, 2016. You will continue to receive these email notices until your password has been updated via the instructions in the notification email.
The content of the email is as follows:
Dear Private Cloud User,
For security purposes your Abila Private Cloud Password (for access to the MIP Fund Accounting and Fundraising 50 products) must be changed every 6 months.
Our records indicate that your password will expire in 14 days.
To change your password, access the standard Abila Online login screen. Just below the password field is a Forgot Password link.
Accessing this link will open a Password Manager welcome screen with the following options:
* Security Questions
* Reset Password
* Unlock Account
* Change Password
In order to Reset, Unlock or Change your password you must FIRST complete the Security Questions section, if you have not previously done so. As long as you know your most recent password, you will be able to complete the Security Questions. Once these are complete, those Questions give you access to the other options.
Please take a few minutes now to establish your Password Manager access which will grant you 24/7 access to your account and password options.
Thank you,
The Abila Private Cloud Team
