Symptom:

Computer times out after a period of inactivity

Cause:

There are multiple reasons for timing out,  such as Hibernation/Sleep settings or Mapped network drives which disconnect after x minutes automatically, this article deals with another setting which can result in the same behavior;  the NIC card setting on your computer.

Resolution:

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:

We are providing the information in this article as a courtesy to our Abila customers.  Assistance with troubleshooting of your Windows environment falls outside of the scope of your Abila Maintenance and Support Agreement.

Navigate to your system tray, right-click the network icon, and select:

Open Network and Sharing Center

Click the Local Area Connection

1.      Select Properties button

2.      Select Configure button

3.      Select the Power Management tab

4.      Uncheck the top checkbox: “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”

“this device” refers to the Network Interface Card (NIC) in your computer and having this box checked will temporarily shut down the NIC which in turn drops your connection to the server.

7.  Click OK when finished

If you are experiencing the error “Your Licensed Seat is No Longer Active”  KB 986 may also be useful.

How best to analyze Depreciation

$

0
Answer:

Perhaps the best, easiest way is to run an Asset Transfer Register which you find in Abila MIP Fund Accounting at Reports>Fixed Assets>Asset Transfer Register.

You can select one of the default reports <By Responsibility>, <Disposals> or design your own.

Frequently the key to such a report is to filter it for the Depreciation Date, Asset ID, or Category (if you have set up categories on the assets)

The following example is by Depreciation Date:

On the content tab I have included the following columns for the body of the report:

Category
Depreciation Date
Asset ID
Description
Status
Original Asset ID
Cost/Basis
Depreciation Expenditure
Accumulated Depreciation
Disposals
GL Code

You can then run the report and analyze as necessary.

This report returns the assets that had a Depreciation Date of 04/302016.  Basic information about the assets, Cost of the assets, the amount of the depreciation per asset, and the GL’s the depreciation expense and accumulated depreciation has hit.

Of course they are many other options to choice from on the content and filters tabs to get the information you need from this report.

Why can't a user Select or See a Distribution Code?

$
0
0
Answer:

This typically is due to the use of Advanced Security permissions which prevents the user from viewing one or more segment codes contained in a particular Distribution Code because of Account Level Security settings

To resolve this scenario, navigate to the Distribution Code via Maintain>Distribution Codes and determine its coding making note of the segments and specific codes it contains.

Then navigate to Security>Setup Account Level Security.  Select Type: User then select the User ID.

Verify that all of the codes present in the Distribution Code are listed on the right side of the screen under Selected Items. If one of the segment codes listed is the <Blank> value, you will also want to ensure that value is under the Selected Items.

Program cannot start because Mfc120.dll is missing

$

Symptom:

MIP previously launched without issue.  Now when attempting to launch an error message is produced:

The Program Cannot Start Because Mfc120.dll is missing

Cause:

An update to the Adobe product has removed the version of Mfc120.dll that MIP requires to function.

Resolution:

Reinstall the required version of Mfc120.dll.

From the workstation(s) experiencing the issue, navigate to the MIP Share directory on the server, within that directory select Setup>Subinstalls and then look for the vcredist_x86.exe file.

Double-click on this file which will reinstall the correct version of Mfc120.dll that MIP requires.  This will not replace the Mfc120.dll version that Adobe installed but rather add back the version required by MIP.  Both product should then launch and function successfully.
