NpsSqlSys database missing within DrillPoint Admin Module

Symptom:

The NpsSqlSys database is not available to add within the DrillPoint Admin module.

Traditionally, once the DrillPoint Admin module is installed, the admin logs into it, uses the keyboard command: Control + Shift + Alt + H and it allows an icon to appear stating“Add New DP Client.” Once that is chosen, the NpsSqlSys database can then be selected and installed, per the screenshot above.  However, there are times where the NpsSqlSys database may not appear.

Cause:

While installing the DrillPoint Admin module, it is recommended that it is installed using the SA login for Sql Server.  If the default DPADMIN user is used to configure DrillPoint, this may cause the NpsSqlSys database to not appear in the DrillPoint Admin module.

Note: The screenshot below shows the installation popup that appears when installing the DrillPoint Admin module.  Per the installation instructions, the default DPADMIN user is replaced with the SA login for Sql server, along with the password being changed to the SA login’s password.

Resolution:

If the DrillPoint Admin module was installed using DPADMIN rather than the SA login, the DPADMIN user will have to have proper sysadmin rights within the SQL Server.  Our support department can be contacted at 1-800-945-3278 by the organization’s IT department, so they can work with them in granting those proper sysadmin rights.

Once the DPADMIN user is granted the proper sysadmin rights, the NpsSqlSys database should now appear to be installed within the DrillPoint Admin Module.
