Symptom:
While downloading a state tax update in the Abila MIP Worstation Update Tool, the following error message is displayed:
Cause:
Windows 10 released a version update 2004 that changes edgegdi.dll and is causing a conflict.
Resolution:
Click OK and the download process will continue. Once the download is complete, follow instructions in KB 27101 to complete the installation process. To avoid this error on future updates, you can change the compatibility mode of the Workstation Update Tool to circumvent the Windows 10 compatibility issue.
To do this, make sure the MIP application is closed. Then in your system tray, right click and exit the Abila MIP Workstation Update Tool.
With MIP and the MIP Workstation Update tool Closed, browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\MIP\WorkstationUpdater. Find and right click on MIP.Update.Client.WindowsFormContainer, choose Properties.
Click on the Compatibility Tab, then check the box for Compatibility Mode - Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 8.
Click Apply, then OK. On subsequent MIP State Tax Updates you should no longer received the above referenced error.
