Using the MIP Workstation Update Tool

The MIP Workstation Update Tool was created to notify users that Payroll Tax Updates exist and to allow for simple downloading and installation of those files. First introduced in version 2020.2, it's now available to receive the latest Payroll Tax Update.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When updates are available they can only be applied if the full version of the software is already installed. For example, to apply the 2021.1.1 Payroll Tax Update, a user's workstation must already be on version 2021.1. Do not apply the 2021.1.1 update to versions lower than 2021.1, this will not achieve the desired results.

When workstation updates are available a message will appear in the user's system tray. Access the Workstation Updater Tool by clicking on the message or by browsing the system tray and clicking the MIP Workstation Updates Icon.

There will be a Download file indicated (1), to download this file to your local computer, click the Download Updates button in the lower right hand corner. There will also be a brief description of what is contained in the download file. 

Once the update files have been downloaded, the Download indicator will show no files available and the Install indicator will show (1).

When you are ready to install the update files, click the Install Updates button in the lower right hand corner. IMPORTANT NOTE: The MIP application should be closed during this process, if not the Update Tool will display a message stating that MIP must be closed to proceed. While the installation process is ongoing, you will see progress bars indicating the status. Please wait for the installer to finish, no user interaction will be required. 

The amount of time it takes to complete the installation will vary from machine to machine, but generally the process only lasts a few minutes. Once completed, a pop-up box will indicate the update process has finished successfully.
