2025 Benefits and Deduction Calculation amounts per pay period are lower than 2024John_Folmar
Symptom

Calculating payroll’s within 2025 with Bi-Weekly processing groups when using Benefit Plans in HR Management are generating lower per pay period values than in 2024.

Cause

In 2025, there are 27 pay periods for Bi-Weekly processing groups, where in 2024, there was only 26. Because of this, Benefit Plan calculations within HR are dividing the monthly amount by 27 pay periods, not 26, resulting in lower per pay period amounts on the benefits and deductions tab.  This only occurs when the benefit and deduction code is set to a schedule of A, always and their processing group has all 27 pay periods filled in.

Pay schedule

Resolution
  1. If the yearly and monthly amounts are still accurate, then nothing must technically be done.  The same overall yearly and monthly amounts will still be taken out, it just will take one pay period longer, so the amount is stretched more than in 2024.

  1. They can also remove the last pay period in MIP, however that may cause complications at the end of 2025

  1. They can also increase the monthly amount on the benefit plan, resulting in the original per pay period amount in 2024, however, it will result in larger per month and year amounts overall.
